Committee Members - Roles and Responsibilities
All positions are voluntary and where a position is vacant then those tasks are taken up
by other committee members or club members incidentally.

President:

  • Chair Meetings or arrange a suitable candidate from the committee
  • Delegate to AGM's and other meetings held by the State Association
  • Ensure compliance of the club management is within the Constitution
  • Promote the club and encourage player participation at social and competition level
  • Encourage new people to join the committee in order to ensure the future of the club.

Treasurer:

  • Provide accurate financial reports on a Monthly basis
  • Pay all incoming expenses. ie Hall Hire and Shuttles before the due date.
  • Collect monies from:
  • Club Nights
  • SABA Registrations
  • Sturt Member Registrations
  • Advise committee at every meeting of our financial situation.

Secretary:

  • Record minutes of meetings and distribute to all committee members at least 1 week prior to the next meeting
  • Record and collate all inward and outward correspondence

Venue Co-Ordinator:

  • Organise games at practice venues
  • Keep a record of attendance – to graph player participation
  • Ensure players have paid for their night of badminton
  • Keep track of shuttle usage
  • Make sure we are covering costs each night
  • Report to committee on a monthly basis

Junior Development:

  • Coach juniors of any standard and age at all club venues
  • Ensure safe environment for children to participate
  • Enter teams into the SABA Junior League Competition
  • Encourage all new players
  • Enter and promote Juniors and Seniors to compete in all tournaments run by the Club
    and the Association

Fund Raising:

  • Control and organise all fund raising activities
  • Keep records of funds raised at each event to see viability of the project
  • Report to committee on a monthly basis

Tournaments and SABA Competiton:

  • Enter even teams in all grades of SABA Competition if possible
  • Keep informed of results of the teams in the SABA Competition giving results to Editor of “ON THE LINE”
  • Run two (2) Sturt Tournaments per year:
    • The first in March
    • The second in November / December
Social Events Co-ordinator:
  • Editor of the Club newsletter on a quarterly basis
  • Organise at least two (2) social events each year for both competition and social players to attend
  • Assist with the Fund Raising and Tournaments Portfolio’s
